Ajit
Kambil
Senior Research Fellow and Associate Partner, Accenture
Ajit Kambil is a Senior Research Fellow and Associate Partner
at the Accenture Institute for Strategic Change where he leads
research programs in electronic commerce, venturing and supply
chains. Prior to joining Accenture, Dr. Kambil was on the
full time faculty of the Stern School where he led various
e-commerce projects. In 1994-1995 his NSF sponsored project
to put the Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR database
on the Internet was one of the first financial service applications
on the Internet. This led to timely access and worldwide dissemination
of U.S. corporate disclosure information. More recently he
developed patent pending methods for trading knowledge over
the Internet. Since joining Accenture Dr. Kambil, has taught
occasionally at Stern in the Executive Programs.
Dr. Kambil has helped various companies develop electronic
commerce strategies and new businesses. He is a regular speaker
at industry and professional conferences, and has served on
the advisory boards of various firms. He is a Thought
Leader in the Peter F. Drucker Foundation. He has published
in Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management Review,
International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Journal
of MIS, Journal of the American Society of Information
Science, Communications of the ACM and IEEE
Computer. His book, Making Markets: Designing Online
Markets and Auctions for Profit, published by Harvard
Business School Press is a brilliant work. He has a Ph.D in
Management Science, S.M degrees in Technology and Policy and
Management, and an S.B in Electrical Engineering from MIT.

J. Katz
Founder, Blue
Penguin Development
Michael J. Katz is founder and Chief Penguin of Blue Penguin
Development, Inc., a consulting firm that helps companies
increase profitability, by showing them how to grow their
business through their existing relationships, and which specializes
in the creation and management of effective enewsletters.
Michael brings 20 years of marketing and training experience
to client companies, with a particular focus on customer relationship
management and electronic communications.
Prior to launching Blue Penguin Development, Michael spent
12 years with MediaOne (now called ATT Broadband), where he
held a number of marketing, sales, content and business development
positions. Most recently, he was Northeast Regional Marketing
Director of MediaOne Road Runner, where he was a cofounder
of this Internet access business, and which today represents
the largest concentration of cable modem users in the world.
Michael regularly delivers speaking and training programs
to business associations and individual organizations, and
is an adjunct faculty member of the Commonwealth Corporation's
Entrepreneurial Training Program.
Michael is also the publisher of “Different Rules, Different
Tools,” a free, biweekly e-newsletter that focuses on helping
businesspeople learn how to take full advantage of the Internet,
and is the author of the book, E-Newsletters That Work.
In addition, he has written articles for several online and
print publications, including 1to1 Magazine, Inc.com, CRMguru.com,
SearchCRM and WorkZ.
Michael has a BA in Psychology from McGill University in Montreal
and an MBA from Boston University. He also has a second degree
black belt in karate (Kempo), a first degree black belt in
parenting (three children), juggles and rides a unicycle and
was the winner of a 1999 New England Press Association award
for "Best Humor Columnist."
